Dr. Belinda Douglas is originally from Atlanta, Georgia. She holds a Doctorate in Biblical Studies from Zion International Bible College in Jupiter, Florida, and currently serves as an Adjunct Professor there. Belinda is also an Emory Certified Instructor for Cognitively Based Compassion Training (CBCT), endorsed by Emory University's Center of Contemplative Science and Compassion-Based Ethics. Belinda facilitates meaningful, reflective, and meditative practices to enhance Cognitively Based Compassion Training (CBCT) skills and insights while encouraging participants to explore ways to cultivate compassion during real-life interactions and experiences.
Belinda adopted the CBCT meditation practice while participating in Emory University's Clinical Pastoral Education Program, where she also embraced the Compassion-Centered Spiritual Health (CCSH) integrative model. Incorporating daily CBCT practices into her work as a chaplain has deepened her spirituality and helped her navigate the unique challenges of being a servant leader. She has written 60 case studies demonstrating the effectiveness and benefits of CBCT and the CCSH integrative model, highlighting the importance of compassion training.
Belinda teaches CBCT to Violence Intervention Specialists and nonprofit leaders within the City of Atlanta Circle of Safety. She shares her expertise to equip them with practical tools for addressing violence, trauma, and conflict. By helping these specialists maintain compassion even in challenging situations, she aims to prevent burnout and promote sustainable care for those affected by gun violence. She collaborates with the Center of Contemplative Science and Compassion-Based Ethics at Emory University to promote, expand, and tailor the offering of CBCT to targeted sectors of business whose members have a unique role in shaping society and social change.
